The society was formed in 1986
so is twenty years old this June.
The park was opened in 1992. Track was made by the members and sleepers were
scrounged from truss makers. We had a lot of help from TTS in those days doing
the formation for the track. The overall roof in the station was built using
trusses from an old drum shed. OOnoonba station was rescued from demolition and
moved to its present site. The pavers were recycled from the Leslie Thiess Dr.
They were laid over an Easter Weekend.
In 1995 TDSME ran a most successful AALS Convention attracting visitors from all
over Australia and New Zealand.
Modelling of many different articles is encouraged not just locomotives,
Stationery engines I?C and Steam various tools and tooling are made by members
to produce equipment.
The TDSME site also hosts the Magnetic Model Boat Club where they exhibit their
models and run boats for the public on the running days.
Club meeting night is the first Thursday of each month.
Working bee is the Sunday before the Run Day
RUNNING DAYS are the Last Sunday of the month except December.
